As a minister of the Word and Sacrament in the PC (USA), I am called to preach and teach the Word, care for God's people and help lead the church in the world. God has been good to me. I love the ministry and I love Lakeview Presbyterian Church. Theologically speaking, Baptism is often on my mind. Check out that little beginning of a faith statement above. I want all of God's children to know that God has named them children of God and claimed them as God's own in Baptism. Historically speaking, I have been greatly influenced by the role of the church in the Civil Rights Movement. It's just such a fresh example of the church really following Jesus Christ in the world. Born and raised just outside of Detroit, I have also lived in Ann Arbor, DC and Atlanta. In Ann Arbor, I attended the University of Michigan and graduated a double major in History and Political Science. I worked on Capitol Hill in DC for four years. And in Atlanta, I attended Columbia Theological Seminary. I have also spent some time overseas doing internships in London (House of Commons) and Cape Town (Reformed Church). I love traveling, and experiences abroad have helped shape me. What else can I tell you? I enjoy cooking (comfort foods like macaroni and cheese), Net Flix (I've been watching HBO's The Wire lately), golf (I'm about an 18 handicap) and of course, University of Michigan football. As a matter of fact, there is nothing I like more than watching college football on Saturdays in the fall. I met my beautiful wife, Ceska McCottry, at church in DC. We don't have any children but do have one other member of the family-our black and white tuxedo cat, Maurice. No, he's not our child, but he is our baby! I hope to see you at church sometime. Peace! |
