Call to Worship (Psalm 111)

By this I have known the presence of the Lord: in the rising of the sun, in the smile of another’s face, in the touch of a hand or the sound of a laugh, in the scent of a flower holding the promise of spring. By this I have known the power of the Lord: in the healing of hurts, in the forgiveness of sin, in the giving of gifts beyond all expectation, in the shower of love that comes from God’s Son. Let us give thanks to the Lord with all of our heart! Let us worship our God, whose presence and power endures forever!

Opening Prayer (1 Corinthians 8)

Almighty and most merciful God, we give thanks that you know us and love us. Help us, through the power of your Holy Spirit, to grow deeper, wider, and fuller in our knowledge and understanding of your ways. Help us, through the bestowal of your divine Wisdom, to bring others closer to you and to your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose name we pray. Amen.

Music "Live Your Dreams" by Keisha Prime

Composed and sung by Keisha Prime

I apologize on behalf of the things that got in your way.
And I am sorry that the one you loved went astray.
I see the sadness in your eyes
When someone lives the life that could have been yours.
I see the hope in your eyes when you see in God another reason to fly.

Your dreams don’t have to die.
You can do anything through Christ.
Leave your past behind to die.
Push forward to the destiny named after you.
Take all your failures and your loss
And nail them to His cross.
You are accepted and so loved.
Live your dreams today, through Christ.

You’ve been believing all those lies
That whisper to you when you’re alone at night.
Somebody told you that your dreams were too bold for you. Oh!
But look beyond yourself. Look beyond the skies.
There is a power ready to launch you.
Beyond your fright, beyond your sight
To a place where you will take flight.

Your dreams don’t have to die.
You can do anything through Christ.
Leave your past behind to die.
Push forward to the destiny named after you.
Take all your failures and your loss
And nail them to His cross.

You are accepted and so loved.
Live your dreams today, through Christ.

Do not hesitate. There’s so much in store. Its up to you to open that door. You’re no failure. You’re no mistake. Live your purpose! Please do not forsake! The passion inside that God gave to you just because someone lied to you. Look yourself in the eye and sing this with me. Let’s drown out those voices proclaiming their defeat.

My dreams don’t have to die. I can do anything through Christ. I’ll leave my past behind to die. I’ll push forth and see the destiny named after me. I’ll take all my failures and my loss and nail them to His cross. I am accepted and so loved. I’ll live my dreams today, Through Christ….

Scripture Reading : Mark 1:21-39 NLT

Jesus and his companions went to the town of Capernaum, and every Sabbath day he went into the synagogue and taught the people. They were amazed at his teaching, for he taught as one who had real authority-- quite unlike the teachers of religious law. A man possessed by an evil spirit was in the synagogue, and he began shouting, "Why are you bothering us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are-- the Holy One sent from God!"Jesus cut him short. "Be silent! Come out of the man." At that, the evil spirit screamed and threw the man into a convulsion, but then he left him. Amazement gripped the audience, and they began to discuss what had happened. "What sort of new teaching is this?" they asked excitedly. "It has such authority! Even evil spirits obey his orders!" The news of what he had done spread quickly through that entire area of Galilee. After Jesus and his disciples left the synagogue, they went over to Simon and Andrew's home, and James and John were with them. Simon's mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. They told Jesus about her right away. He went to her bedside, and as he took her by the hand and helped her to sit up, the fever suddenly left, and she got up and prepared a meal for them. That evening at sunset, many sick and demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus. And a huge crowd of people from all over Capernaum gathered outside the door to watch. So Jesus healed great numbers of sick people who had many different kinds of diseases, and he ordered many demons to come out of their victims. But because they knew who he was, he refused to allow the demons to speak. The next morning Jesus awoke long before daybreak and went out alone into the wilderness to pray.Later Simon and the others went out to find him. They said, "Everyone is asking for you." But he replied, "We must go on to other towns as well, and I will preach to them, too, because that is why I came." So he traveled throughout the region of Galilee, preaching in the synagogues and expelling demons from many people.

Message    Even Jesus  Needed Self-Care”     Courtney  Jones, Circle of Faith Pastor

Message by Courtney Jones

Music Redeemer by Nicole C. Mullen

Sung by Keisha Prime

Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning?
And who told the ocean you can only come this far?
And who showed the moon where to hide till evening?
Whose words alone can catch a falling star? Chorus:
Well I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
All of creation testifies
This life within me cries
I know my Redeemer lives Ye-e-eah
The very same God
That spins things in orbit
Runs to the weary, the worn and the weak
And the same gentle hands that hold me when I'm broken
They conquered death to bring me victory

Now I know, my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
Let all creation testify
Let this life within me cry
I-I-I know
My Redeemer He lives
To take away my shame
And He lives
Forever I'll proclaim
That the payment for my sins
Was the precious life He gave
And now He's alive and
There's an empty
Grave!

And I know
My Redeemer lives
He lives
I know
My Redeemer lives
Let all creation testify
Let this life within me cry
I-I-I know my Redeemer I know
My Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives *I know, That I know, that I know, that I know, that I know
He lives
*my redeemer lives*
*Because He lives I can face tomorrow
He lives
*I know, I know*
He lives
I spoke with Him this morning!
He lives
The tomb is empty
He lives
He Lives! I'm going to tell everybody!!

  QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION

What is the name of the demon, the spirit, the idolatry you carry? If you can think of this answer as many “troubles,” try to find the root cause, a name to give to that which needs to be cast out. The answer may take different forms throughout the week. You may also consider the same question with regard to your family and to this nation. What is the Holy One casting out today in your presence?
