OPENING WORDS (from Psalm 46: 9—11)

The Lord makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. Be still and know that the Lord is God! Exalt the Lord among the nations, and in all the earth. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

PRAYER FOR THE DAY

Loving God, in whom we live and move and have our being, help us to choose life in you, that we may keep the commands of Jesus, follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and witness to the hope that is within us, sharing Christ’s love in the world. Amen.

MUSIC OFFERING Great Is Thy Faithfulness by Thomas Chisholm

Sung by Keisha Prime

1 Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
there is no shadow of turning with thee;
thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;
as thou hast been thou forever wilt be.

Refrain:
Great is thy faithfulness!
Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see:
all I have needed thy hand hath provided--
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

2 Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
sun, moon, and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
to thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love. [Refrain]

3 Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside! [Refrain]

READING FROM THE GOSPEL:   Luke 17: 12—19

“As he entered a village, ten lepers approached him. Keeping their distance, they called out, saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!" When he saw them, he said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they were made clean. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice. He prostrated himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him. And he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus asked, "Were not ten made clean? But the other nine, where are they? Was none of them found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?" Then he said to him, "Get up and go on your way; your faith has made you well.".

LISTEN TO THE WORD FOR THE DAY: “We Are All in This Together”

Sermon by Pastor russ Lehman

MUSIC OFFERING If You Want Me To by Ginny Owens

Sung by Keisha Prime

The pathway is broken and the signs are unclear
And I don't know the reason why You brought me here
But just because You love me the way that You do
I'm gonna walk through the valley if You want me to

'Cause I'm not who I was when I took my first step
And I'm clinging to the promise You're not through with me yet
So if all of these trials bring me closer to You
Then I will go through the fire if You want me to

It may not be the way I would have chosen
When You lead me through a world that's not my home
But You never said it would be easy
You only said I'd never go alone

So when the whole world turns against me and I'm all by myself
And I can't hear You answer my cries for help
I'll remember the suffering Your love put You through
And I will go through the darkness if You want me to.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

During these days it is good for us to remember the gifts God has given us: talents and abilities to be used for personal satisfaction and the common good, parents, teachers, and mentors who have taught us, and experiences that have shaped us. Take a moment to reflect on those things for which you are thankful. Let us give thanks and seek ways of giving back.

CLOSING PRAYER

May God, who creates, redeems, and sustains, keep us steadfast in faith, buoyant in hope, and abounding in love. May the blessings of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, remain with us always. Amen.

  QUESTION FOR REFLECTION

Who are the people upon whom you depend the most? Do you remember to say thank you? Think hard, how do you get your food? Who makes you feel secure? Where do you spend most of your time?
